Residents, or potential residents, have become very savvy in how to use ‘the law’ in acquiring permission to have an animal in their until. The fact that Companion Animals can be referred to as Companion Pets, Therapeutic Pets or Emotional Support Pets can mislead multi-family housing providers because under Fair Housing Law these animals are not “pets” and how you deal with them is very important.
