Webinar Wednesday: Legislative Update & Security Deposit Issues (January 2019)

Webinar Wednesday is a monthly presentation focusing on a different Landlord-related legal topic.  The webinars will be led by one of THS’s experienced attorneys and provide timely, specific, and important information regarding subjects that have recently come upon our situations board.  Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions as well.

Colorado has an entirely new cast of statewide political leadership and the statehouse has seen a change in control as well.  With such a significant shakeup, over 100 bills were introduced on the first day of the 2019 Session of the General Assembly and THS expects several more that may impact the Rental Housing Industry to be proposed between now and next Wednesday.  For this reason, we have decided to open this month’s Webinar Wednesday with a legislative update prior to the Security Deposit Issues portion of the presentation.

Following the legislative update, Mark will discuss how complicated move-out statements and tracking depreciation of things like appliances, carpets, and surfaces continue to be a thorn in the side of many landlords.  In this month’s Webinar Wednesday, Mark will cover the necessities of properly handling Security Deposits and how to avoid losing money by “Staying on the Right Side of Zero” when it comes to withholding deposits.
