Even though Kent was born in Honolulu Hawaii he is considered a “Haole” by locals which is a term they use to identify individuals born in the islands who are not descendants of the ethnic native Hawaiians or other Polynesians. Born into a military family, the Shira family moved from one base to another when he was young eventually settling down in Colorado. He is a graduate of Cherry Creek High School and earned an Interior Architecture degree from Arizona State University. Passionate for the aesthetic, he continued his academic pursuit at the University of Denver earning a Masters in Art degree with an emphasis in Museum Management.
During his graduate studies at DU, Kent opened CSK Gallery and Printmaking Workshop, a business he established to promote the acquisition and production of fine art. After a seven-year run, he sold the business and set his sights on the dot.com boom. Working at Level 3 Communications, Kent found a home in the Corporate Marketing Department as a Project Manager focused on the development of the company’s Intranet and Internet sites. When the dot.com boom turned to bust Kent moved on to US West/Qwest/Centurylink . Still pursuing his interest in technology, he made the move from design to analytics. At Centurylink, Kent worked with a team to develop and maintain the “Corporate Standard” for senior level management Operational Readiness Reporting.
Kent joined the THS Team in 2018 in the newly created position of Special Projects Manager and, among other assignments, he was charged with the responsibility to manage the development of a software solution to facilitate the processing of Reasonable Accommodation/Modification Requests with a special focus on ESA applications. He is committed to developing the best tools possible to enable property managers to focus on their clients while maintaining the legal requirements that are mandated by Fair Housing and ADA Laws. Currently, Kent is the Firm's Situation Manager, in charge of coordinating attorney responses to client questions.
Kent is the father of two college age children Colin and Piper who he loves spending time with whenever the opportunity arises. One attends the University of Colorado and one is at Colorado State University, two schools that have a long-standing rivalry in all things athletic and whose contests are labeled “Rocky Mountain Showdowns” which probably adds a little color to Shira Family gatherings. An enthusiastic dog lover, Kent is devoted to his two four-legged friends Winston and Zoe. Kent has said that he has a love/hate relationship with his yard and that he is incapable of turning down any “Do It Yourself” project, especially if it is over his head.
